Gem and the Stones: The Music

Gem and the Stones are a collective playing predominantly rock and punk music as well as a large quantity of original music written by Gem and the Stones. The usual line up is the classic three-piece (drums, bass, guitar and vocals). Some pre recorded backing may be included in the music when needed, if the song calls for it.

Original music is written mainly by Gem, based around heavy punk style guitar playing. Gem uses a 50th Anniversary Fender Telecaster with Limited Edition Signed Marshall Amp, with a line 6 Pod for effects, a classic Sans Amp, and Cry Baby wah wah. In addition she boosts ownership of a rare White Korean built Squire Stratocaster.

The music is recorded using pro tools LE and Logic Audio, with Josh laying down the drums at LG Records, the music is then combined to create their own unique sound. Bentley adds dimension using a Fender Bass with several distorted foot pedals. In addition, all members sing backing vocals to create a harsh Brit rock backing.

Heavily influenced by punk, the music and lyrics are more about feelings than any real skill. Lyrical matter comes from things they usually feel angry about, but do not have the power to do anything about, so the music is really the only channel for the frustrations of the day.
